The Big 5 Wildlife Expedition ran from 26th November to 13th December and was operated as a private wildlife tour, allowing us to move at our own pace and stay flexible with the group’s interests.
We began the journey in Tadoba, setting the tone with intense jungle action and strong predator movement. From there, the tour moved into the heart of central India at Kanha, where vast meadows, sal forests, and classic tiger landscapes offered a very different rhythm to the safaris.
After Kanha, the expedition shifted east to Kaziranga, introducing an entirely new habitat. Floodplains, tall elephant grass, and river systems brought exceptional birdlife along with sightings of rhinos, swamp deer, and a variety of wetland species.
The final leg took us north to Rajaji and Jim Corbett, where riverine forests and Shivalik foothills rounded off the journey beautifully. These landscapes proved especially rewarding for birding, with rich diversity across forest, grassland, and river ecosystems.
Throughout the tour, the guests showed a clear inclination towards birding over mammals, which shaped our focus in the field. Slow drives, careful observation, and time spent understanding behaviour made this expedition as much about learning and immersion as it was about sightings.
