Truly once-in-a-lifetime wildlife and photographic experience, our Snow Leopard tour offers an excellent opportunity to see and photograph this near-mythical creature in the majestic mountains of the Himalayas. Snow Leopard is often referred to as the “Grey Ghost of mountains“, Snow leopard habitat in the Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh has been hailed as one of the last frontiers for wildlife tourism. This incredible 13-day Snow Leopard expedition in India is a quest to search for this enigmatic snow leopard and other rare Himalayan wildlife. The isolated Himalayan Buddhist monasteries and local Ladakhi community’s culture and hospitality only add to this quest’s allure.

With the help of our very knowledgeable Ladakhi local Guide and his expert tracking team, we will explore some secluded valleys of Hemis National Park, where healthy populations of this alluring Snow Leopard survive. Our tour is the Snow Leopard-centred wildlife photography tour. Still, it’s a great opportunity to photograph some rare species of birds at Hemis and Indus river valley.

This Snow Leopard tour is primarily designed for wildlife enthusiasts to sight the most elusive Snow Leopard and other rare Himalayan Wildlife

Beginner, amateur, enthusiast, and semi-pro photographers that want to explore their photography skills. Our photography tour leader Harsh is eager to share his ideas and creativity as well as the knowledge of the technical aspects of your camera settings.

Weather: February – Temp- High 26-30°F (-3 to -1°C) to low about 4-7°F (-12 to -15°C). It gets really cold in the early morning and late evening, so extra layers are advisable. Generally dry and sunny weather (sunshine is the norm here in Ladakh) with some light snow.

Starts/Ends: Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, India

It takes 5-10 minutes depending on our traffic to reach our accommodation near Airport. Our tour starts on 18th February at 18.30 pm. Your flight must land at the airport at/before 4 pm on 19th February. The tour ends on 2nd March at 17.00 hrs at Airport. You can take the onwards flight at/ after 21.00 hrs.

DAY 01

Arrival in Delhi

The enthralling snow leopard tour begins with your arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
Upon reaching, receive warm greetings from our representative and get assisted to the coach.
You will be comfortably transferred to your hotel. Complete the check-in formalities.
Enjoy an overnight stay in Delhi.

DAY 02

Delhi- Leh

Early morning transfers to airport to board flight for Leh. Usually, we have a very early start today for the flight to Leh.
Keep your cameras ready because the view from the flight will be highly spectacular. You will get a chance to have a bird-eye view of Himalayas. Incredibly beautiful in winter, we fly over the vast expanse of snow-capped peaks.
Landing in Leh, the temperature will drop dramatically, and we will need our down jackets at the airport. On your arrival at Leh airport, transfer to Hotel in Leh City. Enjoy a hot cup of Tea/ Coffee while you are transferred to your rooms.
Day at leisure, to acclimatize yourself to the altitude (3,500m). Take Rest and catch up on some sleep.
In the evening, a gentle stroll along the main bazaar, observing the varied crowd, is an entrancing experience.
Welcome dinner in the evening.

DAY 03

Discover Leh with Camera

The day will be easy to acclimatize yourself before starting the main part of the snow leopard tour.
Today, we will visit some of the monasteries which are nearby. After a leisurely morning, we will visit the Hemis monastery – Thiksey monastery – Shanti Stupa.
Ladakh is one of the few remaining abodes of Tibetan Buddhism, and the Leh area is home to some impressive monasteries. These show unique prayer wheels, chortens (stupas), statues of Buddha, thangkas (Tibetan silk paintings), and prayer flags. Thiksey monastery is a wonderful place for photography.
We will also photograph at some vantage points

DAY 04

Leh- Hemis Shukpachan (Uley) (3 hrs drive)

Today, after breakfast, you will be joined by your Snow leopard expert tracker.
While driving north of Ladakh, landscapes are amazing. A photo stops at the confluence of Zanskar and Indus River.
If time permits, visit Likir monastery.
From now onwards, you will be driving in the snow leopards' country. It is in the center of three interlocking valleys that house approximately 15 snow leopards, according to the last census.
Upon arrival, check-in and settle in your homestay. This will be your hideout for the next seven days. From here, only your trekking team will coordinate with locals for snow leopard movement and other local habitats like Ibexes, wolves, and Himalayan foxes.

DAY 05-10

Search of Snow Leopard

For the next six days, you will be exploring this area on foot or vehicles with your expert tracking team. All these valleys are connected by road
During these days we will not follow a fixed itinerary and follow a plan based on the inputs of our tracking team to maximize our chances of sighting Snow Leopards
In the process, we will also interact closely with the local people and use their network of local intelligence to narrow down the likely sites.

DAY 11

Uley- Leh via Alchi

This morning after satisfactory shoots of elusive Snow leopards, we will drive back to Leh.
If time permits, visit the Alchi monastery.
Evening at leisure. If time permits, a walk in the Leh city and an opportunity for last-minute shopping for keepsakes.

DAY 12

Fly to Delhi

Early morning transfer to Leh airport. Fly back to Delhi.
On arrival, transfer to Hotel in Delhi for scrumptious breakfast.
